Home of Autumn and Eric Williams

This grand house along historic Judge's Row sparked a great deal of interest among neighbors when it came on the market—it seemed that everybody wanted to take a look! According to the 1902 Hopkins map and city directories, the original owner may have been Herman Borchers, who was at that time the secretary and treasurer of the Pennsylvania Title and Trust Company. Autumn and Eric have been the fortunate new owners since January.

In just a few months, Autumn and Eric have repainted the entire interior (no small feat!), refinished the hardwood floors, remodeled the kitchen, opened up a few doorways, moved the laundry room to the second floor, and finished the exterior painting. They love the beautiful original fireplaces and the abundant stained glass.

The welcoming enclosed porch leads to an open entryway and the first floor's many fireplaces and inlaid hardwood floors. A new crystal chandelier illuminates the family room at the back, which features original paneling and a unique mosaic tile floor. This room has 14 windows!

In the kitchen, Autumn and Eric added new stainless steel appliances and new marble countertops with a subway tile backsplash. They painted the original cabinets and added the open cabinets above. They also opened up the doorway into the kitchen.

Autumn and Eric and their two daughters moved to Observatory Hill from the local suburbs. Autumn says, “We were drawn to the eclectic feel of the neighborhood. We love to breathe new life into these magnificent older homes, and we look forward to restoring our house to its former glory.”
