Home of Scott Pipitone and Rachel Wilson

This beautiful house with its inviting porch was built in 1897; the sunroom, garage, porch extension, and bathrooms were added in 1929. Scott Pipitone bought the house in 1994 from the Schellhaas family, who had purchased it long ago as a fixer-upper. Today, it's difficult to imagine this lovely home as a blighted property with squirrels living on the third floor!

When Scott bought the house, he set about repositioning the master bedroom and bathroom to take advantage of the view of Riverview Park. He extended the kitchen on the second floor to connect to the sunroom and installed new appliances, counters, and cabinets to make this the perfect space for entertaining. He also renovated the basement to create a playroom for his three children.

In the entryway, note the original door with leaded glass, the inlaid floor, and the original wood paneling. You can't miss the staircase—its newel posts and spindles are original, and the fact that it is open to the third floor is rare in houses like this. The magnificent stained glass window is original.

Be sure to take a look at the Eastlake cabinet and mirror in the living room, along with the family library table. You'll find more leaded glass in this room too. An original gas fireplace lends a cozy touch. In the dining room, you'll find a zebra-striped inlaid border on the wooden floor and a Lincrusta header embracing the walls. The handmade table is from Russia.

The kitchen was renovated in 2000 to extend to the porch. It features new cabinets and appliances, stone counters, and new molding that was made to match the original. Scott removed some walls to open this room up to the sunroom, which boasts an original tile floor and a wood-burning fireplace. This area of the house has gorgeous views of Riverview Park and, of course, the back garden. Upstairs are six bedrooms and three full bathrooms.
