3021 Mt. Alister

This property was designed by architect Allan H. Neal. He was the first homeowner. Bill, Rose and Olivia Strickland are only the third family to own this home. Bill was born and raised in the Northside having lived in the Manchester district. It was very important to Bill to stay close to his roots. “We love the Observatory Hill area. Ten minutes from downtown and close to neighborhoods. The neighborhood is historic and eclectic and very well maintained. Bill’s work is no more than five minutes away. Many young families are moving here or are growing their families here. Many families have passed down their homes and so the neighborhood remains stable”.

The home is a classic tudor style with an arts and crafts interior. All furnishings and artwork reflect that style. Stickley furniture, photography, ceramics, and glass are extensive throughout the home. The main entrance is a stone arch with a solid oak door and trim specially constructed to fit the arch. The living room still has its original oak floor, baseboards, ceiling beams and trim. Stained glass windows surround the fireplace whose hearth is flagstone.

Don’t miss the attic. This space was completely remodeled in 2000, this upper floor is a veritable tree house with wood beams, skylights, recessed lights and track lighting. A glass collection is highlighted on glass shelving and lit from above for emphasis. A room with a Jacuzzi tub is lined with hand made tile. Be sure to view the large terraced back yard and the lower deck serves as a play area and entertaining area.
