100 Waldorf Street

Home of Joyce and Paul Aloyi

Back when she was living on Bascom Avenue, Joyce Aloyi would often
drive past the charming house at 100 Waldorf Street on her way to visit a friend. For years she told her friend, "If you ever hear that this house is going on the market, let me know." About ten years ago, her friend called to say that the house was being listed that day. Joyce called the realtor and asked Paul to bring his checkbook. They made an offer the same day and have loved the house ever since.

Nestled on the corner of Waldorf and Grizella Streets, this house was built in 1925 by the Emil Limbach family. It retains its original slate roof, original main door with red and blue stained glass, and many other original features.

On the first floor, note the two corner cabinets and bridging slat-topped window ledge in the dining room. The living room's two sets of multi-paned double doors lead to a sunroom that Joyce enjoys all year. With its many windows and slate floor, it’s the perfect space for her plants. Joyce and Paul find that it's easy to entertain in a house with such an open floor plan—they've hosted parties of 75 in the house, back deck, and roomy back yard. The kitchen is small but still has room for seating and lots of windows.

The second floor includes the original bathroom, the master bedroom, a guest room, and Joyce’s studio. Joyce and Paul love the community and have many friends here. They can’t think of any home that would be better suited to their love of the creative arts and so convenient to friends, work, and learning opportunities.
