These two magnificent turn of the century
homes have undergone a tremendous transformation. Observatory
Hill,
Inc., the non-profit community group which represents the neighborhood
of Observatory Hill, has renovated these two structures. They
are
just two of the seven houses that the community group is undertaking
in its housing initiative. 103 Marshall Avenue will have displays
courtesy of the Western Pennsylvania Craftsmen Guild, an organization
dedicated to preserving the beauty and skill of the original craftmen
who adorned our historic houses.
The Marshall
Avenue homes were once multi-family rentals and had been neglected
through the years. Responding to neighbors concerns, OHI teamed
with the Northside Leadership Conference, the Urban Redevelopment
Authority and Dollar Bank to acquire those two properties as well
as 5 other properties along Perrysville Avenue. Our contractor is
Angel Contracting and our architects are Tia+Lee. Additional funding
was provided by City Councilwoman Barbara Burns and State Rep. Don
Walko.
