3218 Perrysville Avenue

Home of Joe & Kim Ehman. History: The house was built in 1905 by Judge Weiss, and it is located on Judges Row. The current owners bought the house in Oct of 2003, and believe they are only the 5th owner of the house - this house was always a single family home. They looked all over the city for a Victorian house that was intact, but could not find the layout or amount of work that they wanted. Finally, they looked into the North Side, and came across this house. The moment they saw it, we knew it was their house. The owners love this part of the city because of the unbelievable access to Riverview Park, downtown, their places of employment, and all the major parkways. They love this house because we have invested their time, money, and style into it, and it has become truly home.

Renovations: The current owners have been renovating this house since they purchased it in 2003.

The Details: The previous owners installed a new roof, a new furnace, stripped paint from the outside of the house, refinished most of the hard wood floors, and added Victorian style wallpaper to the first floor, and master bedroom. One of the first projects was to refinish the dining room. The current owners refinished the hardwood floors and painted the walls. They also gutted the entire kitchen, including exposing the "servant's staircase", and painted the outside trim in multiple colors. Throughout the next year, we installed an entirely new kitchen - the only thing that is original is the Butler's Pantry. They rewired the third floor, and installed a movie theater and game room. The house also features a powder room in the child’s room that replicates PNC Park, and a Pirates locker room. Another 2nd floor bedroom was turned into a Pitt-themed playroom. The only major projects left include a full bath on the 3rd floor, a powder room on the 1st floor, and re-doing the 2nd floor full bath.
