16 Richey Avenue

16 Richey Avenue

Built by the Hack family in 1906-07, the interior of the home at 16 Richey reflects the wealth of the original owners.

One of the most striking features you will notice when entering the house, is a spectacular stained glass window on the landing of the staircase showing a landscape with castle and lake. This window is original, custom made for this house by the Rudy Brothers Glass Studios. It was lost for many years. The current owners Joachim and Annette Ahner found it and bought it back. After restoration by stained glass artist John Kelly it now shines from its original place.

The first floor features leaded glass windows and a stained glass window in the living room created by one of the previous owners Earl Robinson. Window seats, oak flooring and cherry woodwork complete the list of original amenities.

Cherry ionic columns separate the entry from the living room (originally the music room) with the original chandeliers in both rooms. A buzzer set in the floor beneath the table was once used to summon the live-in help from the kitchen or upstairs. The modern kitchen is renovated with cherry cabinets and hand-painted, Mexican terra cotta floor tiles.

A cherry-paneled staircase leads to the second floor featuring three bedrooms, a family room and a second full bath.
